Subject: charming romantic comedy

This was surprisingly good, full of charming misunderstandings, and lots of fun all around.

Subject: A Fun picture

Rumors can sure get good girls in a world of trouble.

See what fun ensues with singing, dancing, and impersonations.

Subject: makes a guy think of words like wonderful

This really is a wonderful film. Ceasar Romeo plays the cad over the top, Niven the straight man with a soft edge and Miss Ellen is adorable and quite the showman herself. If you are already in a good mood it will easily coax some smiles and laughs out of you, if not a couple of gahfaws.

Not being too big on musicals myself, there are only a couple of dance numbers ala carte singing and you may come to appreciate them to some extent for what it takes to put them on.

All in all, a jaunty lil' number that is straight up fun to watch.

Subject: Auld Edinburrrra

Some nice late-40's colour footage if Edinburgh here - marvel at the car-free streets and the trams.

Also noted, in the cast - John (Private Frazer) Laurie and a young-ish Gordon ('Cowley CI5') Jackson. Niven and Romero turn in workmanlike performances

This is a nice wee time capsule of a film - more than worth checking our, particularly for any Edinburghians.

As a musical it isn't much of a musical - only one song and a coupla dance numbers. The last big dance number does, however, at one point, become eerily prescient of West Side Story. Both my OH and I spotted this immediately.

Subject: Great stuff!

This RKO picture stars Vera-Ellen, who is a great dancer. You may remember her from "On the Town" the Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra peice. She is also a good comediene and is able to handle the role with skill. There are two great dance scenes and a couple of maudelin dances.
As a whole, the picture is a little chopped up and especially noticed in the last dance number. It is still, however worth the download time and a great entertainment. Among the notable good performances is David Niven, the starch collared millionaire, and Caesar Romero as the money grubbing, tail kissing producer of the show. Truly enjoyable.
