Charles ChaplinThe Kid (1921)
The Kid was Charlie Chaplin's first full-length movie. It, more than anything else to that date, made Chaplin a living legend. It took over a year to produce, and was an incredible success for Chaplin.

This being my first time having watched 'The Kid' (shame on me!) I can honestly say it was absolutely wonderful and very touching, with amazing performances, brilliant sets and a fantastic story told so beautifully. It's no surprise that it made Chaplin a legend!

Subject: Charlie Chaplin at his best
The story and the acting of the people, everything fits together here. Raising a kid which does not belong to you, Charlie Chaplin touches a topic that cannot easily be discussed; especially when thinking of CC as an artist whose strength can be found in comedies. In this film he is able to show that he has width of his talent: in the drama and in the as well.
This is a film worthy to watch again and not just one time. Even though the plot can easily be remembered, it is the style of acting and the atmosphere that this film has which makes it special. Yet it is not that long.. but who cares.

Great-great movie. One of the very few movies on-line I"ve watched all the way through. The only weak spot was that dream thing at the end, and then the whole thing ended too suddenly. Still great.

Subject: No sound for me, but still fun to watch...
I downloaded the MPEG1, which didn't seem to have a sound file attached. I just put my TV on the "swing/big band" music channel while I watched it. I was amazed at how often the music seemed to go with the movie. Overall I'd have to say this is one of my favorite Chaplin movies I've seen (and I've really liked everything else), Charlie's interaction with the kid is both touching and hilarious.

Charles did include a soundtrack to this film. If you rent or buy the dvd you'll hear it. He wrote it all himself - he played cello, violin, and piano. Maybe more. I think there's just something wrong with this file (I've seen a few reviews complain about the lack sound when it worked fine with me), or maybe the copyrights are different so it wasn't included. I don't know, but this is a great classic film. I love it.

Subject: Nice Print
I was amazed at the quality of the film and immediately started to wonder where to find an audio sound track to attach to it and wishing I was adept at the piano. Despite that, as filmography goes, a real gem.
