Crap on a bun.

Fun ad here, 1/2 animated and 1/2 live action. The live action is infinitely more interesting than the animated portion though. Was there really some poo schlo whose main job at the drive in was to mix the James River BBQ mix around and mix sloppy joes? The jingle is bizarre. Watching the kid eat is more bizarre, and of course, the older guy's reaction to the barbecue is the bizarrest. I could watch a loop of that all day.

Yep, They kill a pig during the animated section. And why not? As djkeith3984 says, They shoot a pig, But the burger is Beef? WTF?
(To Quote Spuzz): Highly Recommended!

That's great. I can taste them, but I can't eat them, that must mean it's incurable.

Good Lord! That boy hardly gave the chef enough time to put the plate down before he tore into that dee-licious looking sammitch!

A cute animated pig, while minding his own business, gets blown away at point-blank range by the rifle of a good-timing pilgrim. It goes downhill from there -- especially for the pig -- as he winds up in a nearby boiling pot. Fittingly enough, the spot ends with another pig look-alike who lets out an overstated howl that makes us wonder if the pilgrim's old rifle is back in business.

Subject: Wow!
Who knew barbeque sammiches had such a long and rich history, dating back to before the birth of the U.S.? Maybe it's the age of the print and/or color correction but the BBQ in the bowl looks like it's over 300 years old and the kid looks like he's chewing on a piece of tire. Imagine seeing the guy howling at the end but so much larger than life on a drive-in movie screen...scares me just thinking about it. Cool drive-in ad short, though. Worth watching.

This is the conversation masked by the bad music.

"Cletus, that canned Bobby Q is simply deliceooous!"
"Yaahoo, Clem. Gimme some more!"

So why do they shoot a pig and then eat "Beef" BBQ??
Last time I checked......never mind.
That guy hooting at the end is priceless.

I remember this one above all the others from my trips to the Drive-In with my parents in the 60's and 70's. Even as a kid I thought the people at the end were hillarious. I wondered if my eyes would bug out and I'd start howling if I ate some of that toxic looking stuff.

...there's a whole lot in here that advertisers would think twice before doing today. The questionable use of ethnic mascots, the comedy violoence reminder of just where the meat came from, the awful presentation of the food itself, the creepy leering server, the promise of insanity.
